Getting Started

The American Cellular Donation Organization fundraising program is designed to minimize efforts and maximize collection results. Once word of your phone fundraising program is publicized through fliers, e-mails, and other promotional means it is an easy three-step process to bring fundraising from start to a successful finish!

Step 1: Collect used cellular phones

For ideas on various ways to collect cellular phones see our Tips and Ideas section. Because this is a fundraiser that requires time for promotion and for people to remember to donate their cell phones, we have placed a minimum period of 90 days collecting time in order for your organization to qualify for participation.

Collection Guidelines Please collect only cellular phones. Cordless phones meant for home use are not acceptable. All cellular or PCS hand-carried (not vehicle installed) phones are accepted. Smaller, more recent phones generate the most funds to the charity. * It is very important to remind cellular donors to turn off all services pertaining to the phone before donating it.

Step 2: Ship the phones

Please download this individual form** to arrange shipping. Individual shipping labels are to be used only by individuals. Please click here** to download the shipping label. If you are a non-profit organization, corporation, school or church please go to Set Up a Phone Drive page. American Cellular Donation Organization accepts all cell phones in working condition. If available, include the phone’s battery and charger. Please place or attach these components together with the phone before dropping it in the mail or collection bin. * Non-working phones will be recycled but no donation will be made. If your donated phone cannot be reused, it will be recycled in accordance with federal and local environmental standards for its metal and plastic components. ** In Order to view the individual form or shipping label you must have Adobe Acrobat Reader plugin. Step 3: Receive a check

Your organization will receive a check from American Cellular Donation Organization within 45-60 days of receipt of the phones were received at our facility. Donors will be eligible for a tax deduction for their in-kind donation. A tax receipt can be generated at Donation Acknowledgment.
